چکیده
Coastal landscapes are sensitive to changes due the interplay between surface and submarine geological processes, climate variability, relative sea level fluctuations. The sedimentary archives of such marginal areas record in detail complex evolution paleoenvironment diachronic biota response. Elefsis Bay is nowadays a landlocked shallow marine basin with restricted communication open Saronikos Gulf. A multi-proxy investigation high-resolution sediment core recovered from deepest part offered unique opportunity paleoenvironmental aquatic ecosystem response glacioeustatic since Late Glacial transgression. retrieved deposits, subjected thorough palynological (pollen, non-pollen palynomorphs, dinoflagellates), micropaleontological (benthic foraminifera, calcareous nannoplankton, ostracods), mollusc analyses, indicates isolation Gulf occurrence freshwater paleolake at least 13,500 cal BP, while after 11,350 BP transition towards lagoon conditions evidenced. transgression dated 7500 marking establishment modern realm.

Patterns of Terrestrial and Limnologic Development in the Northern Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (USA) during the Late-Glacial/Early-Holocene Transition
A high-resolution record of pollen, charcoal, diatom, and lithologic data from Dailey Lake in southwestern Montana describes postglacial terrestrial and limnologic development from ice retreat ca. 16,000 cal yr BP through the early Holocene. Following deglaciation, the landscape surrounding Dailey Lake was sparsely vegetated, and erosional input into the lake was high. As summer insolation incr...
متن کاملIdentification of marine ornamental fishes in northern part of the Persian Gulf, Iran
In the past decade, the investment in fisheries development has grown remarkably in the Persian Gulf region. A 1800 km of northern coastline of the Persian Gulf, the Oman Sea and more than 14 islands belong to Iran have provided great possibilities of economic activities. In-shore marine islands such as Kish, Farour, Hendurabi, Tonb made a good opportunity for fishing and harvesting of ornament...
متن کاملUse of ROV for assessing marine litter on the seafloor of Saronikos Gulf (Greece): a way to fill data gaps and deliver environmental education
A visual census of marine litter on the seafloor of the Saronikos Gulf (Greece) is presented in the current work. The abundance and qualitative composition of benthic marine litter were investigated in two selected locations of the Saronikos Gulf with a Remote Operated Vehicle, where other sampling strategies couldn't be implemented. The assessment of marine litter was combined with environment...
